The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed a local case of Enterovirus-71 involving a five-year-old boy, bringing the total number of infections to 31.

All but one of the cases have been imported.

The boy, who has no recent travel history, developed fever, blisters and a rash on his arms and legs on July 16.

He was discharged from Kwong Wah Hospital after receiving treatment from July 17 to 19. His family members had no symptoms.

No other cases were found in the kindergarten he attended. The kindergarten has been on summer holiday since July 9.

For more information, members of the public may visit the CHP's website or call the Central Health Education Hotline, 2833 0111.
