Getting results: Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa says SARS prevention efforts have successfully prevented a reoccurrence of the disease.

Efforts in SARS prevention this year have successfully hindered the reoccurrence of the disease, Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa says.

Speaking after meeting Legislative Council SARS Select Committee members at Government House today, Mr Tung said he has attached great importance to the group��s work.

He explained in detail the Government��s challenges and effort in combating the disease last year. He also answered members�� questions.

Mr Tung said the battle against the SARS has been a painful experience and through the process we learned a lesson, better equipping ourselves in preventing any reoccurrence. He said the world can see Hong Kong��s efforts have yielded a good result.

He urged members to help monitor the implementation of measures on SARS prevention, welcoming constructive suggestions. He hopes the relationship between the legislature and the administration will be further enhanced.
