The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department will resume processing of applications for poultry meat imports from the US, except Texas, and Taiwan with immediate effect.
As the outbreaks of avian influenza in the US and Taiwan have been brought under control and additional control measures for prevention of the disease have been implemented, the department considered the temporary suspension of poultry meat imports from both places can be lifted.
The resumption does not apply to Texas as it was previously affected by highly pathogenic avian influenza. However, discussions with the US authorities will continue.
