distribution of leaflets
Boosting publicity: To beef up its avian flu prevention drive, the Government distributed leaflets printed in several languages to the public at nine popular locations on Sunday.

To beef up its avian flu prevention drive, the Government distributed leaflets printed in several languages to the public at nine popular locations on Sunday.

The leaflets, entitled "What You Should Know about Avian Flu", come in two versions, one in Chinese and English and the other in Tagalog, Thai and Indonesian. The Government printed about 2 million copies altogether.

The leaflets were distributed at the following places from 9am to 6pm:

*  the HSBC Main Building plaza in Central;

*  Chater Garden;

*  Statue Square;

*  St Joseph's Church, Central;

*  Victoria Park;

*  Star Ferry concourses on both sides of the harbour;

*  Cultural Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui; and

*  Kowloon Park.

The bilingual version of the leaflet is being distributed at public housing estates, the Home Affairs Department's public enquiry service centres and Leisure & Cultural Services Department recreation and cultural venues.

Copies are also available to visitors at HK International Airport and all land boundary control points and ferry terminals.

Both versions are available for collection at the Department of Health's Central Health Education Unit, the Information Services Department's  Publishing Sub-division, and major supermarket branches.

Posters to be displayed

A new poster has been produced to draw the public's attention to prevention measures such as cooking all poultry and poultry products, including eggs, thoroughly before eating.

Another poster targets outbound travellers, emphasising that they should not visit poultry farms or parks when travelling outside Hong Kong, and that they should not feed birds. They should not bring any birds or poultry products back to Hong Kong, either.

The two posters will be displayed at Government poster sites and at land, sea and air departure points.

Meanwhile, a set of Frequently Asked Questions has been uploaded to the Avian Flu website.
