Anti-SARS measures strengthened

Department of Health

Precautions have been increased at all immigration control points, and all 500,000 travellers arriving from or departing for the Mainland yesterday were found to be SARS-free.

The Department of Health said among the travellers, nine had been found to have a fever and 48 were reported to be unwell. Four of them were referred to hospitals for further examination.

The department noted that none were suspected of having contracted SARS, and hospitalisation was not required.

The department's SARS hotline 187 2222 received 75 enquiries from December 27 to midday today.
