Leisure & Cultural Services Department

A New Year's Eve Countdown Carnival, featuring Australian percussionists, local pop singers and Latin dances, will be held in Sha Tin at 8.30pm on December 31.

On the main stage in Sha Tin Park, Batacuda from Australia will perform a high-energy cross-cultural medley of percussion and circus antics.

Yip Sai-wing and Chet Lam are among the local acts that will rock the festival, and there will also be exotic African drums and hip-hop, jazz and Brazilian dance.

Kids' fun also on the menu

At Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza, enchanting ballroom and Latin dancing will be staged while music from popular children tales Snow White and Cinderella will be played.

Children will have a lot of fun and excitement enjoying the magic and drama show at the Children's Fun Corner.

Artists in different costumes will also parade around the carnival, with bamboo dances from the Philippines, Korean traditional drum and folk dances, Scottish pipers and Mexican music.

Keep the venues clean

People are urged to keep the areas clean and show care for public property. Aerosol sprays, metallic balloons and bottles are prohibited.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department said more staff will be deployed to patrol the venues, including the Cultural Centre. Enforcement will be stepped up to tackle littering, illegal hawking, spray painting and vandalism.
