A place to create: The Creativity & Innovation Resouce Centre will open to the public on November 27. |
Creativity and innovation are essential in today's ever-changing society. Now the public has a new reference centre to help them in their creative endeavours.
Located at City Hall Public Library, the Creativity & Innovation Resource Centre houses more than 1,500 reference books and journals dealing with creativity and innovative problem-solving skills.
The centre is a joint project by the HK Public Libraries of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department and the Creative Initiatives Foundation.
It is equipped with a reading room with seating for over 20, two computer terminals for Internet browsing and one Online Public Access Catalogue terminal.
The centre will be in full service from November 27. It will be open 10am to 7pm Monday to Thursday, and will close at 9pm on Fridays and 5pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
A vast collection of knowledge
The centre's core collection is made up from the list of 1,000 works provided by the International Centre for Studies in Creativity of Buffalo State College.
In addition, the centre will continue to acquire more literature, including Chinese books and audio-visual materials over time.
It has a wide range of resource materials dealing with children and young adults, including publications on educational leadership, arts in education, early childhood development, learning theory, multiple intelligence, motivation, co-operative learning, education for gifted children.
Other books cover topics such as organisational development, team building, management of innovation, creative leadership, product development, and paradigm shifts.
