Business sector helps promote E&M safety
*

Seventeen organisations have joined the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department to launch the E&M Safety Campaign. The theme for this year's campaign is 'E&M safety and energy efficiency begin with little things'.

The campaign aims to heighten public awareness of electrical, gas, lift and escalator safety and energy efficiency. It is a joint effort of the department and 17 leading organisations and trade associations from various sectors, including power, gas and oil, public transport, housing and estate management.

A carnival to promote the campaign took place today in Kowloon Park. Permanent Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Sandra Lee was one of the officiating guests.

Speaking at the event, Director of Electrical & Mechanical Services Roger Lai encouraged people to do whatever they can to practise safety and energy efficiency in their daily routines.

Mr Lai also advised parents to pass the message to their children, adding that a series of promotional programmes for youngsters will be launched.

The campaign features an array of community and publicity programmes including a sticker design competition, a slogan competition, safety talks, and a home visit programme.
