Island race set for November 2
*

More than 130 yachting teams and windsurfers from around the world, including Hong Kong Olympic gold medallist Lee Lai-shan, will partake in the Panerai Around the Island Race on November 2.

Jointly organised by the Leisure & Cultural Services and Marine Departments, Police and the Royal HK Yacht Club, the race is one of the major sports events of the Relaunch HK Campaign.

It starts at 8am at Kellett Island, and sails around Hong Kong Island.

The best vantage points will be the North Point waterfront (8.30am to 9.30am), the Kowloon waterfront (9am to 10.30am) and Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai (9.30am to 10.30am).

A carnival will be held at the yacht club from 9am to 1.30pm, with live music, a fire-boat performance, visits to the newly-restored Madame Maurene and a Police launch, windsurfing and rowing simulators, game stalls and clown performances.

Free tickets for the carnival are available at District Leisure Services Offices on a first-come, first-served basis.
