Asia Archery Carnival
Bow show: The Archery Traditions of Asia exhibition will showcase about 200 historical bows, arrows and related figurines.

The Archery Traditions of Asia carnival, the first of its kind in Hong Kong, will be held on October 26.

It will showcase the art of traditional archery, and also feature a host of other entertainment from 2pm to 5pm at the Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground.

Organised by the Museum of Coastal Defence and the Asian Traditional Archery Research Network, the carnival aims to give people a better understanding of the sport and to try it out.

Demonstrations of traditional and horseback archery will be held, plus there will be a lion-dance, martial arts and traditional dance displays, and games stalls.

First Bus No 82S will provide a free shuttle service between Chai Wan MTR Station and Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground on that day from 1pm to 5pm. For details, please call 2569 1429.

Also, a seminar on archery will be held from 1pm to 5pm on October 25 at the museum. The seminar is free with 40 seats available on a first-come, first-served basis. Application forms are now available at the museum's website.

The museum will also feature 200 historical bows, arrows and figurines related to archery, revealing archery's history in China and other Asian regions as well as the folklore, rituals and the construction of traditional bows and arrows.
