2 more Dengue fever cases confirmed
*
Department of Health

The Department of Health today confirmed two imported cases of Dengue fever.

They involve a 28-year-old man who developed myalgia and a rash on August 11, and a 47-year-old man who developed fever, rash, headache and myalgia on July 20.

A colleague of the two patients was also confirmed to have Dengue fever on August 15. The man, aged 54, developed fever, headache and myalgia on July 27.

All three, who have recovered, had been working in a Southeast Asian country throughout the incubation period, and had returned to Hong Kong recently. The department has already informed the country about the imported cases.

So far this year, all 28 cases of Dengue fever reported in Hong Kong have been imported.

People are reminded to take the following precautionary measures when travelling abroad: wear long-sleeved clothes and long trousers; use insect repellent over exposed parts of the body; and, use mosquito screens or nets when the room is not air-conditioned.

Travellers who fall sick within one month after a trip should immediately consult a doctor and give a complete travel history to facilitate early diagnosis and management.
