29 convicted for pollution offences

Environmental Protection Department

The Environmental Protection Department recorded 29 convictions in November for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

 

There were 11 convictions for air pollution, 10 for waste disposal, seven for noise and one for water pollution.

 

The heaviest fine of $25,000 was meted out to a construction company for using powered mechanical equipment without a valid construction-noise permit.
