39 pollution convictions issued

The Environmental Protection Department recorded 39 convictions in October for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

 

There were 18 convictions for waste disposal, and nine for air, six for noise and six for water pollution.

 

The heaviest fine of $30,000 was meted out to a company for importing controlled waste without a permit.
