The Hong Kong Observatory has launched the Community Ultraviolet Information Network which allows the public to see UV readings from across the city online.
The service was jointly launched today by the observatory, the Polytechnic University and the Joint-school Meteorological Association, following their launch of the Community Weather Information Network last year.
Celebrating the weather network's first anniversary today, observatory director Lam Chiu-ying said since the launch of the UV index recorded at King's Park Meteorological Station, people have shown great interest in UV information.
"The Community UV Information Network can meet public demand by providing UV information [from] more places in Hong Kong," he said, adding he hopes the weather network will foster closer ties between the observatory and the community, and enhance weather education.
