A partial eclipse of the Moon will occur in the early morning of August 17 and will be best viewed at places with unobstructed views to the southwest and west-southwest like Tuen Mun, Tai Lam Chung, Cheung Chau and Stanley, if weather permits.

The partial eclipse will occur 2.23am to 6.06am. About 81.3% of the Moon's diameter will be obscured by the Earth at the greatest eclipse.

The next lunar eclipse observable in Hong Kong will be on February 9 next year. It will be a penumbral eclipse.
