Water at Silverstrand Beach improves
*
Environmental Protection Department

The Environmental Protection Department has rated water quality at 24 beaches 'fair' and nine 'poor' for this weekend.

Compared with last week, Silverstrand Beach has been upgraded from 'poor' to 'fair'. Hap Mun Bay Beach and Hung Shing Yeh Beach have been downgraded from 'good' to 'fair'. Castle Peak Beach, Deep Water Bay Beach, Lower Cheung Sha Beach and Shek O Beach have been downgraded from 'fair' to 'poor'.

Seven gazetted beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido - are closed to swimmers year-round because of poor water quality. People should not swim at these beaches.

Bathers should avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.
