Water rated 'good' at 5 beaches
*
Environmental Protection Department

The Environmental Protection Department has rated water quality at five beaches 'good', 23 'fair' and five 'poor' for this weekend.

Compared with last week, Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach, Clear Water Bay First Beach, Kwun Yam Beach and Turtle Cove Beach have been downgraded from 'good' to 'fair'. Big Wave Bay Beach, Ma Wan Tung Wan Beach and Silverstrand Beach have been downgraded from 'fair' to 'poor'.

Seven gazetted beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido - are closed to swimmers year-round because of poor water quality. People should not swim at these beaches.

Bathers should avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.
