Environmental Protection Department

The Environmental Protection Department has rated water quality at nine beaches 'good', 22 'fair' and two 'poor' for this weekend.

Compared with last week, Kadoorie Beach has been upgraded from 'very poor' to 'poor'. Chung Hom Kok, Kiu Tsui, Lo So Shing, Lower Cheung Sha, Pui O, Repulse Bay, Stanley Main and Upper Cheung Sha Beaches have changed from 'good' to 'fair', while Butterfly Beach has changed from 'fair' to 'poor'.

Seven gazetted beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido - are closed to swimmers year-round because of poor water quality. People should not swim at these beaches.

Bathers should avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.
