The Environmental Protection Department recorded 37 convictions in May for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

There were 21 convictions for waste disposal, 10 for air pollution, five for noise and one for water pollution.

The heaviest fine of $60,000 was meted out to a company for importing controlled waste without a permit.
