Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department

Shark flags at 10 gazetted beaches in Southern District have been lowered as no more shark sightings have been reported in the area. Stanley Main Beach and St Stephen's Beach Water Sports Centres services have resumed.

The 10 beaches are Shek O, Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, Middle Bay, South Bay, Chung Hom Kok, St Stephen's, Big Wave Bay, Stanley Main and Turtle Cove.

Fishermen on a trawler found a five-metre whale shark about 2pm yesterday and brought it to the Aberdeen Wholesale Fish Market.

Whale sharks feed on small prawns, fish and plankton and pose no danger to humans.
