The Environmental Protection Department recorded 36 convictions in March for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

There were 14 convictions for air pollution, 14 for waste disposal, four for water pollution, two for noise, one for sea dumping and one against ozone layer protection laws.

The heaviest fine of $40,000 was meted out to a person for contravening licence provisions.
