January saw 38 convictions for breaching anti-pollution laws. Two people were sentenced to two months in prison for exporting controlled waste without a permit, the Environmental Protection Department says.
Among the 38 convictions, 18 were related to air pollution, 17 to waste disposal, two to water pollution, and one to noise control.
Two companies were fined $30,000 for importing controlled waste without a permit - the heaviest fine in the month.
