December saw 27 convictions for breaching anti-pollution law, with the heaviest fine of $100,000 imposed on a firm which used powered mechanical equipment not according to permit conditions, the Environmental Protection Department says.

Among the 27 convictions, 18 were related to waste disposal, five to air pollution and four to noise control.
