Water at 8 beaches rated 'good'
*
Environmental Protection Department

Water quality of eight beaches open for swimming are rated 'good' this week.

They include Big Wave Bay, Clear Water Bay Second, Deep Water Bay, Golden, Middle Bay, Repulse Bay, Silverstrand and Stanley Main.

Compared with the last week's grading, there was no change in their grading.

All other beaches are closed for swimming during the winter season.

Seven beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido - are closed to swimmers year round because of poor water quality. People should not swim at these beaches.

Many beaches are likely to be more polluted during and after periods of heavy rain. People should avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.
