The two-kilometre Pak Shek Kok promenade in Tai Po, featuring landscape nodes, an open-air cafe, a refreshment kiosk, public landing steps and first-aid facilities, will open later this year, Civil Engineering & Development Department Director John Chai says.

Speaking at a tree-planting event on the promenade today, Mr Chai said it is part of the department's continued effort in greening and improving the environment.

"We hope that through direct participation, the tree planting day can raise public awareness of environmental protection and people can get involved in enhancing the environment and conserving natural resources," he said.

The works include the planting of 3,000 trees and 330,000 shrubs covering 50,000 square metres, offering a comfortable and beautiful environment.
