March saw 32 pollution convictions, the Environmental Protection Department says, adding that the heaviest fine of $40,000 was imposed on a person who imported controlled waste without a permit.

Of the convictions, 17 were related to air pollution, 10 waste disposal, three water pollution and two noise control.
