Environmental assessment

*

Liquefied natural gas project accepted

*
Environmental Protection Department

The Castle Peak Power Company has obtained an environmental approval from the Environmental Protection Department  to build and operate a liquefied natural gas terminal and associated facilities on South Soko Island.

Although the project was deemed environmentally acceptable, the power company must seek policy approval and consents under relevant laws to implement it.

The enviromental impact assessment report on the  project the company submitted was approved conditionally.

The company must set up committees to advise and monitor the environmental performance of the project's construction and operation.

It must also create a dedicated website for the project to enable public access to the monitoring and implementation information, and install webcams on the South Soko Island for around-the-clock real-time monitoring.
