Deep Water Bay and Clear Water Bay Second Beaches have been rated 'good' and Silverstrand and Golden Beaches 'fair' for this weekend, according to the Environmental Protection Department's latest beach water quality grading.

Compared with the grading released last week, Silverstrand Beach has been downgraded from 'good' to 'fair'.

These four beaches, fitted with shark nets, are open all year round, while other beaches are closed for swimming for the winter season.

Seven gazetted beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido Beaches - are closed to swimmers year round because of poor water quality. People should not swim at these beaches.

Bathers should also avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall as many beaches are likely to be more polluted than their grades suggested during and after heavy rain.
