*

The Hong Kong Observatory has lowered Standby Signal No.1 as Severe Tropical Storm Cimaron moves away.

At 1pm, Cimaron was centred about 610km south-southeast of Hong Kong, near 17.2 degrees north 116.4 degrees east, and is forecast to move south or south-southwest at about 10kph across the northern part of the South China Sea.

Local winds have moderated, but there will be swells. The public should stay away from the shoreline and refrain from water sports.
