Home sweet home: Crocodile Pui Pui enjoys her new landscaped quarters at the Wetland Park. |
Nature lovers can get their first glimpse of crocodile Pui Pui exploring her outdoor enclosure in the Wetland Park on August 30, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department says.
The croc has been released to the external pool, her new landscaped home. As she may need time to adapt to her surroundings, people need not rush to the park to see her. Visitors should watch the crocodile quietly without causing undue disturbance, such as knocking on the glass panels.
Department officers captured Pui Pui in 2004, and transferred her to Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden. She was moved into the wetland park two weeks ago where she was initially kept indoors for observation.
Measuring 1.75 metres and weighing 19.5kg, Pui Pui will grow to three metres when mature. The 72-square-metre outdoor enclosure in the wetland park is purpose-built to cope with her maturity.
