Anglers urged to get reservoir licences

reservoir fishing
Fishin' tips: Anglers must apply for a licence from the Water Supplies Department to fish in reservoirs.

Anglers looking to drop a line in local reservoirs in the coming fishing season must apply for a licence from the Water Supplies Department.

Reservoirs are open for fishing from September 1 to March 31. The $24 licence is valid for three years.

Applications can be made at the department's customer enquiry centres during office hours at:

* 1/F Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai; and,

* G/F 128 Sai Yee Street, Mong Kok.

Applications can also be made by mailing the department's headquarters at 43/F Immigration Tower, with the applicant's name, address, an ID card photocopy and a crossed cheque for $24 payable to The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. No licence will be issued to those under 13.

Anglers must also observe fishing licence rules. Each licence is good for the use of one rod and line only. The use of nets or other gear is not allowed. Boats, dinghies and rafts are not permitted in the reservoirs, and use of explosive or toxic substances is strictly prohibited.
