The Hong Kong Observatory lowered standby signal No. 1 at 6.20am this morning, as the tropical depression over the northern part of the South China Sea has made landfall near Yangjiang in western Guangdong and weakened into an area of low pressure.

The associated unsettled weather is affecting the coast of Guangdong.

Weather forecast for today will be cloudy with scattered showers and a few squally thunderstorms. The maximum temperature will be about 29 degrees Celsius, with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.

The outlook for tomorrow will be still showery, and sunny periods are expected early next week.
