All typhoon signals lowered

*

The HK Observatory has lowered the Standby Signal No.1 as Tropical Storm Prapiroon has weakened into a tropical depresssion.

At 4pm today, Prapiroon was estimated to be about 80km northeast of Nanning. It was centred near 23.1 degrees north, 108.8 degrees east and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 13 kilometres an hour across Guanxi.

The weather will be cloudy with occasional heavy rain and squalls today. Temperatures will range from 25 to 28 degrees Celsius. There will be strong east to southeasterly winds while offshore waters and high ground will experience gale-force winds. Winds will weaken gradually.

As many flights were affected by the storm yesterday, passengers are advised to contact their airline to check on arrivals and departures before leaving for Hong Kong International Airport.

The Home Affairs Department has de-activated its hotline, set up to answer questions on the storm.
