Idling engine emissions under study
*

Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works Dr Sarah Liao says the Government will consider all measures to tackle the air pollution problem and is studying the effect of turning off idling car engines.

Dr Liao said today the Government is encouraging people to turn off idling car engines voluntarily and will evaluate how that works out before it decides the next step.

"Anything that affects the way of life of our people, of course we need to go through a very extensive consultation process before we embark on anything."
