9 heat shelters open as temperatures rise
*
HK Observatory

The Home Affairs Department will open nine temporary night heat shelters from 10.30pm to 8am. Anyone seeking temporary refuge can call 2835 1473.

The very hot warning is now in force. Under the influence of the outer subsiding air of Severe Tropical Storm Bilis, temperatures soared in the afternoon. The maximum temperature recorded at the Hong Kong Observatory was 34 degrees, the highest so far this year.

Showers will become more frequent later tomorrow. Temperatures will range between 27 and 31 degrees.

Since hot weather might cause adverse health effects, residents are advised to pay attention to their health condition and prevent heatstroke.
