Standby Signal No.1 lowered

*

The Hong Kong Observatory cancelled the Standby Signal No.1 at 6.40pm. Jelawat has weakened into a tropical depression and was about 150 kilometres south-southeast of Zhanjian.

 

Jelawat is forecast to move northwest at about 15kph, skirting northeastern Hainan and moving towards Leizhou Peninsula.

 

Scattered showers and a few squally thunderstorms have been forecast for tonight and tomorrow, with moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds.

 

Showers are expected over the next few days.
