February sees 23 pollution-offence convictions

The Environmental Protection Department recorded 23 convictions in February for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

Twelve were for air pollution, eight for noise, two for water pollution and one for improper waste disposal.

The heaviest fine of $25,000 was meted out to a company for using powered mechanical equipment not in accordance with permit conditions.
