The scenic and unspoiled natural environment in Tai Long Wan will be conserved, while the rare species found in Tai Wan will also be preserved and protected, the Town Planning Board says.
The board today announced the Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Tai Long Wan outline zoning plan, which provides a statutory land use planning framework to guide the area's development and redevelopment.
With a planning area of about 51 hectares, over 90% is zoned 'Conservation Area' to protect the natural features extending from the adjoining Sai Kung East Country Park from encroachment by developments and incompatible uses.
To preserve and protect the rare species found in Tai Wan, an area of 2.2 hectares is zoned 'Site of Special Scientific Interest'. Only the existing village areas of 1.9 hectares are zoned 'Village Type Development' to safeguard the natural and heritage features and to minimise human disturbance to the sensitive and tranquil environment.
Plan available for inspection
The approved Tai Long Wan Outline Zoning Plan - OZP No. S/SK-TLW/5 - is now available for public inspection during normal office hours at the board's secretariat, the Planning Department's enquiry counters, the Sai Kung & Sha Tin District Planning Office, the Sai Kung District Office and the Sai Kung Rural Committee.
Copies of the approved plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed on the board's website.
