Water at 2 beaches 'good'
*
Environmental Protection Department

Of four beaches open to the public, two have been rated "good" and two "fair" for this weekend, according to the Environmental Protection Department's latest grading. Other beaches have been closed for the winter season.

The two beaches rated "good" are Deep Water Bay and Clear Water Bay Second Beach. Water quality at Silverstrand and Golden Beaches are "fair".

Compared with last week's grading, Golden Beach's water quality has been downgraded from 'good' to 'fair'.

As many beaches are likely to be more polluted than their grades suggest during and after periods of heavy rain, bathers are advised to avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.

More information can be obtained from the department's website or through the hotline, 2511 6666.
