Seminar on quality weather service
Meteorological matters: Experts from Russia and Vietnam inspect the Airport Meteorological Office.

Fifty-eight weather experts from 37 Asia-Pacific countries have completed a seminar in Hong Kong to discuss meteorological service enhancements for the aviation industry, the Hong Kong Observatory says.

Permanent Secretary for Economic Development & Labour (Economic Development) Sandra Lee said quality weather services for the industry calls for teamwork at an international level.

"By hosting this seminar, the observatory is doing a great job to foster international co-operation in assuring the quality of the aviation weather service in the region," she said.

The four-day seminar featured expert presentations on the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 quality management system and forums.

The Hong Kong Observatory was awarded the ISO 9001:2000 quality management certificate for the provision of aviation weather services in 2002.
