Sea safety pamphlet issued

Dangers of the Sea

Survival guide: The pamphlet Dangers of the Sea has been issued to raise natural disaster awareness.

*

A pamphlet Dangers of the Sea has been issued to raise natural disaster awareness, particularly those that are sea related.

Hong Kong is vulnerable to hazards from the South China Sea posed by typhoons and strong monsoon winds. Coastal engineering projects and timely weather forecasts and warnings have greatly reduced casualties. However, because of a general lack of understanding of swells, lives are occasionally lost.

The Hong Kong Observatory urges people to learn the sea's dangers and take safety precautions.

To read the pamphlet, click here. Copies are available at the Hong Kong Observatory Resource Centre at Units 2304-2309, 23/F Miramar Tower, 132 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.
