Clean beach: Castle Peak Beach, with beach water quality at Grade 2, will reopen on June 1.

Tuen Mun's Castle Peak Beach, which closed in 1981 due to poor water quality, will reopen on June 1, thanks to improvements which help keep the beach water quality at Grade 2.

Improvements to the beach such as dredging the silt at the sea bottom and the construction of a beach building, have been carried out. Pollution control measures and sewerage programmes have also been implemented in recent years to boost water quality to a level suitable for swimming.

To ensure a safe environment for swimmers, a shark prevention net has been installed.

There are five other beaches open for public use in Tuen Mun, including Butterfly, Kadoorie, Cafeteria Old, Cafeteria New and Golden Beaches.

Occupying a beach area of 2.97 hectares and a swimming zone of 0.8 hectare, Castle Peak Beach offers beach-goers washrooms, changing rooms, barbecue pits, a children's playground and a fast food kiosk. Car parking spaces are also available.

The lifeguard service at Castle Peak Beach will be available from 9am to 6pm in April, May, September and October. During the peak swimming season from June to August, lifeguards will be on duty from 9am to 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 7pm on weekends and public holidays.
