A study on the future of Tsing Yi's chemical waste treatment centre will be completed next year, Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works Sarah Liao says.
She told legislators today the Environmental Protection Department is looking at the scope and extent of services of the future plant and the preparation of a conceptual design for any modifications or new facilities required.
Commissioned in April 1993, the plant is now operated by Enviropace under a Government contract that expires in April 2008.
