Last batch of dioxin residue moved safely
*
Civil Engineering & Development Department

The last batch of about 25 tonnes of dioxin-containing residue has been transported from To Kau Wan on Lantau Island to the Chemical Waste Treatment Centre on Tsing Yi for incineration.

The residue was delivered early today following a designated route approved by the Director of Environmental Protection, the Civil Engineering & Development Department said.

Although there were some protesters outside the centre, the operation was smooth with no untoward incidents, the department said, adding that stringent precautionary measures had been adopted.

It says active steps will continue to be taken to monitor the incineration, with relevant data posted on its website when available.
