Of the four beaches open to the public, two have been rated 'good' and two 'fair' for this weekend, according to the Environmental Protection Department's latest gradings. Other beaches have been closed for the winter.
Water quality at Deep Water Bay and Clear Water Bay Second Beaches is good, while Silverstrand and Golden Beaches are fair.
Compared with last week's grading, Silverstrand Beach has changed from good to fair and is generally within the normal range of fluctuation of the bacteriological water quality of the beach.
As many beaches are likely to be more polluted than their grades suggest during and after periods of heavy rain, bathers are advised to avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rain.
More information can be obtained from the department's website or through the 2511 6666 hotline.
