|
Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works Dr Sarah Liao today signed the Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Partnership.
It reflects Hong Kong's commitment to working with overseas partners to expand the global market for renewable energy and energy efficiency.
It is a coalition of governments, businesses and organisations which aim to accelerate the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency systems. Joining the partnership will enable Hong Kong to have better access to the latest policies and technology development in this domain. Joining also shows Hong Kong's commitment to taking up its share of responsibility in combating climate change.
Hong Kong will be able to share technical data on renewable energy resources, which might trigger the business partners in the partnership to implement renewable energy projects in the city.
Developing renewable energy in a metropolis with a huge population density will be unique to Hong Kong, making it a useful model for other top cities.
