Pollution

40 convicted for pollution offences

The Environmental Protection Department issued 40 prosecutions last month for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

Seventeen were for waste disposal, 14 for air pollution, seven for noise and two for water pollution.

The heaviest fine of $50,000 each was meted out to three companies for air and noise pollution, and waste disposal.
