The Environmental Protection Department issued 35 prosecutions last month for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

Twelve were for noise, 10 for waste disposal, seven for air pollution and six for water pollution.

The heaviest fine of $20,000 was meted out to two companies for using powered mechanical equipment in breach of permit conditions and for conducting percussive piling without a valid construction noise permit.
