HK's top earner pays $91m in salaries tax

Hong Kong's top earner in 2009-10 paid $91 million in salaries tax, the Inland Revenue Department says. The top profits-tax earner paid $2.63 billion.

 

According to the department's figures, the amount of salaries tax paid by the top earner in 2009-10 was $20 million more than in 2008-09. The second top earner in 2009-10 paid $58 million, $5 million less than the previous year, while the third top earner paid $38 million, $9 million less.

 

The amount of profits tax paid by the top 10 companies in 2009-10 ranged from $710 million to $2.63 billion, lower than the range of $870 million to $5.91 billion recorded in 2008-09.
