The indices of industrial production for the manufacturing industries and sewerage fell 8.3% last year on 2008, while those for waste management and remediation activities dropped 2.5%. Their producer price indices dropped 1.7% and 2.7%.
The Census & Statistics Department said today the index of industrial production for the manufacturing industries as a whole fell 4.9% in the fourth quarter compared with a year earlier, following an 8.6% year-on-year decrease in the third quarter. The corresponding producer price index decreased by 0.3% in Q4 compared with a year earlier, following a 2% year-on-year decrease in Q3.
The index of industrial production for sewerage, waste management and remediation activities rose 1.5% last quarter compared with a year earlier, following a 3.1% year-on-year decrease in Q3. The corresponding producer price index dropped 1.6% compared with a year earlier, following a 3.3% year-on-year decrease in Q3.
On a seasonally-adjusted basis, the index of industrial production for manufacturing industries as a whole in Q4 rose 1.1% compared with Q3.
Comparing Q4 with Q3 of 2009, the producer price indices for manufacturing industries and sewerage, waste management and remediation activities increased by 1.8% and 1%.
